“From Gym Strangers to Best Friends—Stronger, Fitter & Still Pushing Ourselves Further” - Debs & Wendy | Long-Serving MEE-FIT Members
Debs & Wendy’s Story
*“We’ve been at MEE-FIT for years—seven for Debs, five for Wendy—and honestly, we wouldn’t want to train anywhere else.
Before joining, we both struggled with motivation. We’d tried gyms before, but they always felt intimidating—mirrors everywhere, people lifting huge weights, and no idea what we were supposed to be doing. You get shown around once, then left to figure it out alone. No guidance, no accountability, just frustration.
MEE-FIT was different from day one. We started separately, but met here, training at the same time, and built a friendship through the sessions. Now we train together every morning at 7 AM, supporting (and occasionally bullying) each other into showing up! If one of us even thinks about skipping, the other one is straight on the phone!
What keeps us coming back?
•The coaches—always supportive, knowledgeable, and ready to push us just the right amount.
•The training variety—strength, endurance, team sessions, it’s all mixed up so we never get bored.
•The community—we walked in alone, but now we’re surrounded by people who feel like family.
•The accountability—it’s not just about turning up, it’s about pushing ourselves, knowing we’ll be supported every step of the way.
We’ve achieved things we never thought possible. Running? We couldn’t do it at all before, but with help from MEE-FIT, we built up from nothing to completing some incredible runs, including Wendy’s birthday run and races in London.
For anyone nervous about joining, here’s our advice:
Just do it—the hardest part is stepping through the door.
Find a gym buddy—but don’t worry if you don’t have one—you’ll meet people here who will become your support system.
Stick with it for a few weeks—it’s not just about fitness, it’s about becoming part of something that makes you want to keep coming back.
We wouldn’t train anywhere else. MEE-FIT isn’t just a gym—it’s our routine, our motivation, and a huge part of our lives. If we can do it, so can you!”*
