“I Thought I’d Try It for a Month… 9 Years Later, I’m Still Here!” - Val | 65 | MEE-FIT’s Longest-Serving Member | Whitchurch
Val’s Story
*“When I first started training with Dan, it was back in 2015 at the rugby club. I had no idea if I’d stick with it—I thought maybe a month, three at most. Now, nine years later, I still train at MEE-FIT, and I still love it.
At first, I wasn’t sure about the gym environment. I had that fear that a lot of people do—everyone will be looking at me, judging me, competing with me. But from day one, I realised MEE-FIT isn’t like that. It’s not your typical gym. It’s a place where everyone supports each other, where no one cares what you can’t do—they just help you improve at your own pace.
Over the years, life has thrown challenges my way—illness, injuries, time away—but every time, I’ve come back. Because I know that training here isn’t just about fitness, it’s about feeling better, physically and mentally.
The biggest changes?
Strength & Confidence – I love lifting heavy, and I’ve built strength I never thought possible.
Community & Support – This isn’t just a gym; it’s a group of friends who push and encourage each other.
Consistency & Routine – Training is just part of my life now, and I love having that structure.
I’m not stopping anytime soon. I set myself small goals—like getting better at my core strength and one day nailing a full press-up—and every session moves me closer.
To anyone thinking about joining, I’ll say this: just do it. Don’t overthink it, don’t talk yourself out of it—walk through the door, and see for yourself. Because if you’re anything like me, you’ll come for a month… and stay for years.”*
