Why Liz Started Strength Training at 65
Liz joined Mee-Fit with a simple goal: to hold onto her health as she got older.
At 65, she wasn’t dealing with injuries or health problems. In fact, she felt she was already in quite a good position health-wise.
But turning 65 made her think more seriously about the future.
She realised that staying healthy isn’t something that just happens — it’s something you have to actively maintain.
As she puts it:
“I feel that now is the time to hold onto that health.”
The Problem With Traditional Gyms
Before joining Mee-Fit, Liz had a membership at a health club.
The problem?
She hardly used it.
There was no structure, no accountability, and no real reason to show up.
As she explains:
“Nobody knew if I went or I didn’t go.”
Like many people, she would start things but struggle to keep them going.
Finding Something That Actually Works
When Liz discovered Mee-Fit, she realised it wasn’t like a normal gym.
The sessions are structured, booked online, and only last around 45 minutes.
Each workout is different, and coaches are always there to guide you.
That structure made all the difference.
“You have to stick at it… and that suits my personality.”
Real Progress in Just Two Months
After just two months of training, Liz is already noticing changes.
One of the biggest?
Her strength returning.
“I can feel my muscles coming back.”
She’s also proud of something many people struggle with — consistency.
“I’ve stuck at it as well for two months.”
A Supportive Community
Another surprise for Liz was how welcoming the environment is.
The coaches are supportive, friendly, and always paying attention to help members improve their form:
“Everybody is very nice… I just really like it.”
Thinking About Getting Started?
Liz now tells many of her friends about Mee-Fit because it’s so different from what people expect.
Most people assume it will be just another gym, but Liz encourages people not to make that assumption.
“Just give it a go.”
Sometimes the goal isn’t dramatic transformation.
Sometimes the goal is simply staying strong, healthy, and active for the years ahead.
