Sheila's Story: Regaining Independence and Aging Better | The MEE-FIT Podcast Episode 39
Meet Sheila
Sheila is a 77-year-old retired physiotherapist who had always considered herself reasonably fit and active. However, she began to realize that she was losing her independence. Simple daily tasks like taking the lid off a jar or carrying the log basket were becoming increasingly difficult. She knew she had to do something to regain her strength and energy.
The Turning Point
After a period of procrastination, Sheila decided to take action. She joined MEE-FIT during the cold, dark winter mornings. Despite some initial hesitation, she quickly found that showing up was the most important part. The supportive community and expert coaching helped her stay consistent.
“I don't know whether I can make up the years I was aging badly, but I'm definitely aging better.”
Regaining Independence
The difference was noticeable within just a few weeks. Sheila found that she had more energy for everyday activities and stopped struggling with simple tasks. Her balance and stability improved, giving her the confidence to move without the fear of falling.
“I never ever regret coming. I don't regret it overall. I'm very much better than I was. I feel better.”
